Congrats to Mateo Lopez, P4, Nashville, who received the Nashville campus’s first Professionalism Award!
Mateo was nominated for his respect for others, professional presence, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
Nashville Associate Dean Dr. Tracy Hagemann highlighted the challenges in recruiting students for the Shade Tree Clinic this summer, especially since students were not in class and P4s were occupied with APPEs. Despite these difficulties, Mateo stood out as a reliable volunteer, contributing significantly and volunteering for three shifts, which took place during student-free time on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. While in the clinic, Mateo went above and beyond. He provided vital Spanish translation services, selflessly spending extra time to ensure they understood the medications. Mateo was uncomplaining, offered helpful suggestions in the dispensary, and worked exceptionally well with the medical students. His professionalism was top-notch, and he freely offered it.
Congrats again, Mateo, for this well-deserved recognition!
