Faculty members Alina Cernasev, PharmD, PhD, Rachel Barenie, PharmD, JD, MBA and Devin Scott, PhD (UTHSC TLC), authored a manuscript that has been honored with the Best Manuscript Award by “Clinics and Practice,” an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal on clinical medicine published monthly by MDPI.

The publication, titled “Teaching Deprescribing and Combating Polypharmacy in the Pharmacy Curriculum: Educational Recommendations from Thematic Analysis of Focus Groups”, emphasizes the importance of integrating deprescribing education into pharmacy training. Based on focus group analysis, the authors recommend incorporating deprescribing concepts into didactics, simulations, and clinical experiences—such as incorporating discussions on disease states and medications, providing clear learning objectives for rotations, and deprescribing-focused simulations.
Congratulations to the team on this notable achievement!
