Three UTHSC College of Pharmacy faculty members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to teaching with UTHSC Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC) Excellence in Teaching Awards.
Each year, two faculty members from each college receive Excellence in Teaching Awards. This year’s winners from the College of Pharmacy were Michael Christensen, PharmD, BS, AS, professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science, and Tyler Marie Kiles, PharmD, BCADM, assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science.
Winners of the awards were selected by the students or their college and vetted by each college’s SGAEC representative. Each recipient receives a plaque and a $2,500 stipend.
In addition, Kirk Hevener, PharmD, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the University of Tennessee Alumni Association (UTAA). He was one of four faculty members from the university to receive the award.
