Dean Marie Chisholm-Burns added another terminal degree when she received a PhD in Health Sciences with an emphasis in Social Justice from the University of South Dakota on May 8.
Dean Chisholm-Burns now has a PharmD, PhD, MPH, and MBA. She said she believes in the continuous pursuit of knowledge and embraces the benefits of growth.
“Regardless of your role or your level of education, it is vital to continue to evolve, and this can be done through lifelong learning,” she said. “In essence, we are always students, constantly navigating through life searching for continuous improvement.”
She said she hopes she can be an example of lifelong learning and encourage others to enhance and refine their knowledge and understanding for both personal and professional development.
“Having the attitude of a lifelong learner plays an important role in how successful we aim to be,” Dean Chisholm-Burns said. “Your education is never complete. The world is evolving, and you too are evolving.”
