Pharmacy students help lead inter-professional event

|

The College of Pharmacy partnered with the College of Medicine and the Physician Assistant program on an inter-professional escape room board game to learn about the impact social determinants of health have on medication adherence and patient care.

Two third-year pharmacy students, Laura Heflin and Jamie Browning, worked with faculty to develop the game and clues as part of a special problems elective directed by Dr. Chelsea Renfro.

Heflin said building the game from the ground up was a fun and challenging experience.

“Jamie and I wanted this to be a creative and exciting way for students to gain insight into how other professionals approach a situation, specifically a situation where they would all be working together to help a patient with not only health issues, but also real life everyday obstacles,” Heflin said. “Our hope was that by doing this, students would see how we can all work together towards common goals, each bringing different insights and strengths to the table.”
