Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science
Q: When did you join the faculty here at UTHSC?
A: I joined the faculty in September of 2017. What drew me here was really the state of the art simulation center and the opportunity to work with students in a simulated environment before having them go out on rotations.
Q: When did you decide to become a Pharmacist?
A: I decided to become a Pharmacists back in seventh grade. I was dead set on being a cardiologist but when we did job shadowing there wasn’t a cardiologist in our county. They placed me with a pharmacist and I wasn’t very happy about it, but when I shadowed him and the role he played with his patients it turned me on to pharmacy. After that I wanted to be a pharmacist.
Q: Where do you see the field of Pharmacy in five years?
A: Don’t we all wish we had that crystal ball. I think we are headed to more of a team-based environment. We are already doing that some when you look at inpatient or ambulatory care. But I think even in the community pharmacy setting it will move into a more team-based approach with health-care providers to improve patient outcomes.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: My husband and I love to travel. We are almost always traveling or planning our next trip. We just got back from Guadalupe where we were on a 59-foot catamaran sailing around the Caribbean. My favorite trips were to the San Francisco/Napa area and also Greece and Italy.
Q: What would your last meal be?
A: That is pretty simple. A filet mignon, cooked medium, a strawberry salad with white balsamic vinaigrette and goat cheese and a loaded bake potato with chives. I would have a glass of cabernet with that and a piece of cheesecake with fresh strawberries to finish it off.
