Over 200 students from across the state attended the Annual American Pharmacist Association-Academy of Student Pharmacist (APhA-ASP) Member Appreciation Banquet at the Memphis Zoo on March 3. Students enjoyed a sit down dinner, and a presentation with awards, including a special video tribute honoring Dr. Phelps for her service as APhA-ASP chapter advisor for over 30 years. The night also marked a new beginning, swearing in the new 2018-2019 Executive Committee officers who will begin serving the chapter for their term. After the presentation, students, faculty, and staff danced with a live band and played casino games hosted by faculty and staff.
Ms.Leigh Price was presented with the prestigious UTHSC Friend of ASP Award at the banquet. The award recognizes an individual who has remained committed and provided long-term services and significant contributions benefitting the UTHSC APhA-ASP Chapter. This award is reserved to recognize an individual who truly epitomizes the spirit of the award and is only given out to a special select group of people.
Price, the wife of associate dean Stephanie Phelps, has been an active supporter of ASP for over 20 years. In addition to financial support, Price has been the chapter’s unofficial chapter photographer and has hosted students for various leadership retreats.
