The College of Pharmacy provided UTHSC students, employees, post-docs, residents and retirees with free flu vaccinations at this year’s Boo Flu event in Memphis. The event was held in the Madison Plaza Lobby and a total of 2,025 vaccinations were administered.
In 2016, flu cases in Shelby County tripled from the previous year according to the Tennessee Health Department. It is also estimated that between 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population will get the flu on average each year, costing up to $10 billion in hospitalization and outpatient doctor visits.
