Pharmacy Students Explore Opportunity for PharmD/MBA Degree Program

You may have recently read about the UTHSC College of Pharmacy’s open house for students interested in the PharmD/PhD dual degree program. It remains one of several facets of the College’s curricular philosophy to support the development of the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for students to become self-directed learners who are installed with the responsibility to be an advocate for the profession in in the best interest of the patient and society. Another program available to provide students with the best academic experience possible is the PharmD/MBA program through a partnership with the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis.

Recently, Marja Martin, MEd, MBA Academic Advisor at the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis, recently spoke to a packed room of first-year pharmacy students about the PharmD/MBA program. The program aims to provide highly-qualified student pharmacists the opportunity to combine the pharmacy and MBA curricula, ultimately resulting in reduced time to achieve these degrees.

“This degree program can serve not only as a competitive edge, but also provides a powerful set of skills for those open to pursuing management positions in pharmacy,” Deanna Ko (P4) said.
