UTCOP student pharmacists recently volunteered with the University of Tennessee Medical Center Internal Medicine Haiti Medical Team to prepare medications for future medical mission trips to underserved countries. Students prepared medications for two upcoming trips to Haiti and Kenya, and assisted with expired medication disposal. Pictured is Knoxville campus student pharmacist, Sean Jansen, who built a partnership with the volunteer medical team and the student led American Pharmacist Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists GenerationRx organization.
The traveling medical team performs surgeries and provides monthly supplies of medications to patients in need in the countries they visit. The team is able to provide these health care services through donations and volunteer work.
