Samantha Boldin, PharmD (’14) was highlighted in an article titled “Benefits and Barriers: HIE Access for Pharmacists” in APhA’s Pharmacy Today for her work during her residency at Belew Drugs in Knoxville. She worked to gain access in the community pharmacy to the East Tennessee Health Information Network. Having access to a health information exchange network such as this one is a rare opportunity for community pharmacists around the country. It is a valuable resource that Dr. Boldin uses during medication therapy management, to review lab results, and to help with medication reconciliation after patients have been discharge from the hospital. Belew Drug is an independent pharmacy with three locations in the Knoxville area and a site for The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program.
