Race for the Summitt Raises $13K +

|

Race CollageThe second annual Knoxville Race for the Summitt 4-Miler, organized by the UT College of Pharmacy Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), succeeded in raising over $13,000 to benefit the Pat Summitt Foundation. The Pat Summitt Foundation was founded by legendary head coach of the Lady Vols Basketball team, Coach Pat Summitt, who was diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type, to promote education and research for Alzheimer’s disease. The race was held on October 31st in Knoxville on the UTK campus. The course featured a 4-mile tour of campus, where Pat Summitt established her legacy as one of the best women’s basketball coaches of all time. Following the race, there was an after-party featuring light refreshments, a photo booth, corn hole, pumpkin decorating, music, and a silent auction that included prize packages from local businesses and Pat Summitt memorabilia. A big thank you to race director, Kimberly Keller, student members of the race committee (Jane Cho, Henna Vazirani, Stephen Duden, Emily Longaker, Sarah Hawkins, Chelsea Nichols, Morgan Lingerfelt, Rebecca Wong, and Courtney Manlove), and to faculty advisors Dr. Leslie Hamilton and Dr. Glen Farr.
