Welcome New Faculty – Dr. Brian Peters

Brian_Peters_zoomBrian Peters, PhD recently joined the College of Pharmacy faculty as an assistant professor in the Division of Experimental Therapeutics within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy. Dr. Peters obtained a BS degree in Microbiology at Penn State University before earning a PhD at the University of Maryland in 2010 in the program of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology. He then conducted postdoctoral work at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) from 2011-2013. Dr. Peters began his career as a research-track assistant professor in 2013 while at LSUHSC.

Dr. Peters will collaborate with Drs. Dave Rogers and Glen Palmer, a complementary multi-investigator team with established excellence in the fields of fungal genetics, antifungal resistance, and pathogenesis. Dr. Peters brings with him a K22 Career Transition Award from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), a funded co-investigator position on an R01 award from the NIAID, and a scored and resubmitted R01 from the NIAID. He looks forward to launching his research program at UTHSC College of Pharmacy, contributing to the educational mission of the university, and working with colleagues and students across all campuses.
