On Sunday, March 8th, the UTHSC College of Pharmacy chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) held its annual Awards Banquet and Casino Night at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. Outgoing chapter student leaders were honored and newly elected officers were installed. When asked to reflect on her time as Chapter President, Samantha Lewis responded that it “has been by far my most memorable time while in pharmacy school and has helped me develop quality leadership skills, step out of my comfort zone, and cultivate me into a well-rounded future pharmacist. While all the tools gained from this position have been extremely beneficial to me, the one thing that I will always remember is the friendship I developed with all the student pharmacists within this organization.” To the same question, Knoxville Executive Vice President, Hannah Donnelly, replied, “My time spent as an APhA-ASP officer for the past three years has been so rewarding, and I could not imagine my pharmacy school experience without this organization and all that it has taught me about service, leadership, and commitment.”
Awards were presented to recognize students exhibiting dedication and service to the chapter and to APhA-ASP as a whole. Immediately following the banquet, Casino Night commenced, during which faculty served as dealers for black jack, craps, and roulette. It was a night of entertainment and celebration, as the chapter reunited students from across the state of Tennessee to recognize the contributions of its outstanding members.
