Glen Palmer, PhD, has joined the faculty of the Division of Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the UT College of Pharmacy. Dr. Palmer earned a BSc in Genetics at the University of Sheffield and a PhD in Genetics at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. He subsequently completed post-doctoral training at Georgetown University and later Louisiana State University where he was most recently an assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology. Dr. Palmer’s research currently centers on mechanisms of anti-fungal drug resistance, the discovery and development of a new class of anti-fungal agents that target the fungal vacuole, and the development of an entirely novel chemical-genetic approach to drug discovery using yeast based platforms for which he currently carries NIH R01 and R21 funding. Dr. Palmer has published numerous papers in journals such as Eukaryotic Cell, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Microbiology, and Infection and Immunity and currently serves as an academic editor for PLoS One.
