The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy held the first reception of the 2014-2015 school year for University of Memphis students accepted through our Direct Admissions Program. The reception was held at the College of Pharmacy building in Memphis. The Direct Admission Program allows students applying to either the University of Memphis or the University of Tennessee Knoxville the opportunity to concurrently apply to the College of Pharmacy through their undergraduate application. If accepted, students must complete all prerequisite coursework and meet additional criteria to maintain their College of Pharmacy admission status.

The thirteen Direct Admission students and twelve accompanying parents/guests in attendance in Memphis were welcomed by Dean Marie Chisholm-Burns and Dr. Angela Finerson. Faculty guests Drs. Christopher Wood and Chasity Shelton along with fifteen student pharmacist mentors were present to meet and warmly welcome the Direct Admission students and their guests to the College of Pharmacy. The reception proceeded with a book signing by Dean Chisholm-Burns, who authored Barron’s PCAT review book. Dean Chisholm-Burns provided a signed copy of the book to each future UT College of Pharmacy student. Finally, the evening concluded with a tour of the College of Pharmacy building for students and guests.

A reception will be held in Knoxville for University of Tennessee Knoxville students accepted in the Direct Admissions program later this fall.
