Welcome New Faculty

Dr. Santosh Kumar

The College of Pharmacy is pleased to welcome two new faculty: Dr. Kenneth Hohmeier, assistant professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Dr. Santosh Kumar, assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Dr. Kumar completed his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India. Prior to this, Dr. Kumar was an assistant professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. His accomplishments include serving on several editorial boards at many levels including executive editor. He also serves as Chair of Early Career Investigator Committee in the Society of Neuroimmune Pharmacology. He has published 55 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and a book chapter. In addition, he has published 45 abstracts and 30 presentations. He has been honored with several awards and recognitions, with the most notable being the “Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman” (Non-resident Indian Honor). Dr. Kumar’s research interest is primarily focused on the effects of alcohol and tobacco consumption on patients with HIV-1 who are receiving antiretroviral therapy. His research is well-funded by the National Institute of Health. His teaching expertise includes antibacterial, antiviral, antituberculotic, antidiabetic, and anticancer drugs, as well as food supplements and herbal medications.
