Michelle Farland, PharmD, BCPS, CDE, associate professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy has received a grant in the amount of $3011 from the Physicians Medical Education and Research Foundation (PMERF). This Knoxville-campus based grant will allow for the development and administration of a survey of primary care physicians to assess the general consensus and their likelihood to base prescribing practices on the recently published Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC-8) and Fourth Adult Treatment Panel (ATP-4) guidelines. Dr. Farland, the principal investigator, is collaborating on this innovative research with Carol Ellis, MD; R. Eric Heidel, PhD and Nathan Smith, MD.
