After a hiatus since October 2025, student pharmacists and Assistant Professor Elizabeth Yett, PharmD, who helped reopen the Hope Clinic at Church Health in Memphis on Tuesday, June 23. The clinic’s return marks an important step forward in expanding access to care for uninsured individuals across the greater Memphis region.
Formerly known as Clinica Esperanza, now operating as Hope Clinic, this interprofessional, student-led clinic is once again helping bridge critical gaps in healthcare access.
By bringing together UT Health Sciences medical and pharmacy students, Hope Clinic increases access to affordable, high-quality care for patients who might otherwise go without.
Through medication management, patient counseling, and collaborative care planning, student pharmacists play a key role in ensuring treatment is not only clinically appropriate but also accessible and cost-conscious.
Staffed entirely by volunteers and supported by a supervising physician and pharmacist, the clinic is a powerful example of how interprofessional collaboration can directly improve community health outcomes.
At the same time, the clinic’s reopening strengthens the pipeline of future healthcare providers by giving students hands-on experience delivering care in real-world, community-based settings.
Hope Clinic operates every Tuesday from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at Church Health.
