Congrats to Darcy Doran, who was awarded the College of Pharmacy’s Best Practices of Professionalism Award!

Darcy exhibited professional presence, altruism, and respect while participating in a Mission of Mercy event, where she demonstrated her commitment by sacrificing her time to serve underserved patients in the Memphis area. She even stayed nearly two hours past her scheduled leave time due to her dedication to patient care. She counseled patients on how to take their medications in a professional manner. She was extremely respectful to others, as many of these patients had undergone dental work and were often agitated due to severe pain. Additionally, she showed respect towards other members of the healthcare team, which included pharmacists, dentists, dental students, and chauffeurs who directed patients throughout the event space. Everyone was treated with kindness and respect during the event. Darcy handled the situation with grace and professionalism.
The Best Practices of Professionalism award acknowledges acts like patient advocacy, great teamwork, and innovative thinking that go beyond the call of duty.
Congratulations, Darcy, for demonstrating the professionalism and kindness that exemplify the UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy students!
