Martina Walling Serves as APhA Student Ambassador

|

Martina Walling had an exhilarating experience as American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists Student Ambassador for the Substance Use Disorders Institute.

“I have been able to seize extraordinary opportunities that I never thought possible through the unwavering support of the UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy and the generous financial backing from the college’s APhA-ASP chapter,” says Walling.

One of only two PharmD students chosen nationally for the prestigious appointment, Walling helped prepare for the Institute by participating in an informational webinar for attendees ahead of the conference. During the conference, Walling helped introduce speakers and assist attendees throughout the 2024 conference, which was from May 29 to June 1, 2024.

“Serving as a Student Ambassador for the Institute on Substance Use Disorders was a fantastic experience, and I am truly grateful,” says Walling.

The APhA Institute aims to support pharmacists, student pharmacists, and the profession by offering resources, information, and guidance on addiction education. The institute seeks to redefine views on the disease of addiction and serve as a catalyst to help increase the awareness of health and social problems related to alcoholism and other drug dependencies.
