Andrea S. Franks, PharmD, BCPS, professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Translational Science, has been appointed Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs for the UTHSC College of Pharmacy.
In her new role, Franks will collaborate with Dawn Havrda, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment, and course directors. Together, they will ensure that course content is integrated vertically and horizontally while fostering innovative approaches to teaching methodology, learner assessment, and evaluation.
In addition, Franks will facilitate curricular innovation and development to provide a high-quality learning experience for students. She will create and promote faculty development programs within the college to support excellence in teaching and learning for the PharmD program. This position will be critical as the college revises its curriculum, incorporates the upcoming new standards, and increases its use of active learning strategies.
