Connecting with people through networking has proven to be a successful way to find mentorship and career opportunities. There are several tools available to upcoming professionals and LinkedIn is at the top of the list. This is why our Rho Chi Chapter decided to prove just how important it is by submitting a proposal to develop a workshop for students to help them better understand how LinkedIn can help them develop a professional presence online, and how it can prepare them for rotations and their future careers.
“LinkedIn is an important resource for the professional development of our students, and very few know how to build a strong profile on it,” said Ted Cory PharmD, Ph.D., Rho Chi Advisor and Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science. “I’m proud of the hard work our Rho Chi chapter did to develop this proposal,” continued Cory.
Their proposal titled “LinkedIn Workshop: How to Stand Out on LinkedIn” outlines their plan to have a speaker who is advanced in LinkedIn etiquette to share their advice and experiences with the students, a panel of three professionals to answer questions about improving profiles, and then breakout rooms for students to get hands-on experience creating and editing their profiles.
Their prize for being the winning proposal is to have their submission funded so they can develop and execute their proposal topic.
