Two UTHSC College of Pharmacy faculty received awards from the Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC) at their awards banquet held on April 19, 2022.
Dr. Tyler Melton, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science on the Knoxville campus, and Dr. Rachel Barenie, PharmD, JD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science and Assistant Director of Continuing Professional Development on the Memphis campus, were both recognized with the SGAEC Excellence in Teaching Award. Drs. Melton and Barenie both received a plaque and a $2,500 stipend as well as public recognition at the SGAEC banquet. They will also be recognized at the College of Pharmacy Convocation and Commencement Ceremony in May. Faculty members from each college are chosen by their students to receive these awards, which are among the highest honors given to faculty on campus.
In addition, 26 College of Pharmacy students were inducted into the Imhotep Society, a campus organization that recognizes students who, because of their service and leadership, have significantly contributed to student life on campus. The society was named after Imhotep, the ancient Egyptian god of medicine.
