Juan Rodriguez, a P4 student pharmacist, was awarded the 2021 Student Social Justice and Diversity Healthcare Leadership Award by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for the College of Pharmacy.
The award, which includes a plaque and $500 prize to be used for professional development, was given based on nominations from the UTHSC colleges.
Rodriguez has served in leadership roles within the College of Pharmacy, including as a participant in the leadership training program and a leader in the UTHSC chapter of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). This year, he is serving as National President for the organization, with a platform of unity and diversity.
“I have always been impressed with Juan’s sincerity,” said College of Pharmacy Dean Marie Chisholm-Burns. “His platform of social justice is especially appreciated.”
