Two UTHSC College of Pharmacy alumni were recognized by the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) with awards this year.
Jennifer Twilla, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP, was recognized as the 2021 Tom C. Sharp Pharmacist of the Year for her distinguished work in the profession of pharmacy and excellence in the areas of teaching, patient care, leadership, service delivery and advocacy for the profession.
Dr. Twilla received her PharmD from the UTHSC College of Pharmacy and serves as an assistant professor for the college. She also serves as the Interim Director and Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Jason Vinson, PharmD, received the 2021 TPA Excellence in Innovation Award. This national award is given annually to a pharmacist who has demonstrated significant innovation in practice, resulting in improved patient care and advancement of the profession of pharmacy.
Dr. Vinson earned his PharmD at the UTHSC College of Pharmacy and served at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett for more than a decade before forming his own company, Specialty Consultative Pharmacy Services, LLC, in 2019. Dr. Vinson also serves as a preceptor for the UTHSC College of Pharmacy.
In addition to these alumni, Jonathan C. Hughes, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, also serves as one of the college’s preceptors and was recognized as the 2021 Distinguished Young Pharmacist.
