Rachel Allen, a P3 student in the College of Pharmacy, received an Underrepresented Minority Gateway Research Award from the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE).
The Gateway Awards provide support to PharmD and undergraduate students who are considering a career in research and enable them to work with a faculty mentor on that mentor’s research project. Allen will work alongside Justin Gatwood, PhD, MPH, associate professor in the Department Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science.
“Rachel has been a critical asset to my team’s work over the past year, demonstrating a commitment to conducting solid research across a range of topics,” Dr. Gatwood said. “This recent achievement will enable her to further refine her research skills by taking lead on an innovative topic that is critical to address in order to improve the outcomes of adults with glaucoma.”
