Hohmeier awarded Wiederholt Prize

|

Dr. Kenneth Hohmeier, associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science, has been awarded the Wiederholt Prize for Best Published Paper Award for Economic, Social, and Administrative Sciences by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

Dr. Hohmeier received the award for his paper “Exploring the implementation of a novel optimizing care model in the community pharmacy setting.” This paper used semi-structured interviews to identify and summarize the perspectives of managers, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians regarding the implementation of the Optimizing Care Model, and its conclusions provide insights into the opportunities that task delegation of final product verification may bring in the community pharmacy setting.

“I’m extremely humbled to have been awarded APhA’s Wiederholt Prize for my work on advanced pharmacy technician roles,” Dr. Hohmeier said. “I’ve seen through my research and practice career how advanced pharmacy technician roles can be a critical driver for advanced pharmacist practice. I hope this research paper advances that vision.”
