UTHSC College of Pharmacy fellows complete inaugural fellowships with the college

|

Drs. Emily Olivier and Kelsey Frederick became the first UTHSC College of Pharmacy fellows to complete inaugural programs at the College of Pharmacy.  Dr. Olivier completed a fellowship in Pharmacy Teaching, Learning, and Assessment with the college. She finished the program in June and also received her Master’s in Instruction & Curriculum Leadership from the University of Memphis. Dr. Frederick completed the college’s first Academic Community Pharmacy Fellowship.

“The addition of the fellowship to our assessment team was a tremendous asset to our efforts,” said Dr. Dawn Havrda, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment. “Emily understood the student role, but also understood the standards and curricular requirements for the PharmD program.  She brought in the student view from the perspective of how to improve our curricular program and improve learning. Emily brought new, creative ideas to bring quality to our PharmD program and meet accreditation standards.”

“Kelsey was able to engage in the exciting, community-based pharmacy research ongoing on at the college and assist with the launch of new leadership and management curricula,” said Dr. Kenneth Hohmeier, Director of Community Affairs and Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science. “Beyond some of these larger projects, there were a million little things that she contributed to the college over her year – always with thoughtfulness and care. She has a passion for community pharmacy research and education, and that shined through over the entire year.”

“I am so very proud of both of these individuals and the works they were able to accomplish while in their respective fellowship,” said Dean Marie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, MPH, MBA, FCCP FASHP, FAST.
