The UTHSC chapter of the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) received the OTC Medicine Safety Region 3 Patient Care Award at the APhA-ASP Region 3 Midyear Regional Meeting (MRM) Oct. 18-20 in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 30 UTHSC students attended the meeting, along with hundreds of students representing the 28 schools and colleges of pharmacy that compose Region 3.
The OTC Medicine Safety Region 3 Patient Care Award is one of five national patient care initiatives recognized at MRM. The mission of this initiative is to educate 5th and 6th grade students and their families about the safe use and storage of over-the-counter medicines.
Student pharmacists at UTHSC reached 1,060 people through education in 2018-2019 through this patient care initiative.
