The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy has launched the first class of its new Leadership Exploration and Ability Development (LEAD) track. The program will provide specialty coursework for PharmD students that builds on the leadership skills learned in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. It will provide training in project development, entrepreneurship, finance, and education, as well as Six Sigma certification training.
“In the LEAD program, students will advance their skills through application in real health-related environments to deliver real-world solutions,” College of Pharmacy Dean Marie Chisholm-Burns said. “They will refine their leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills to foster positive change in health and pharmacy practice.”
Each class of the LEAD track will include 10 students selected through an application process. Students can apply for the program during their P1 year. The first LEAD class will include Connor Alexander, Kristen Blagg, Lauren Biliter, Matthew Cheramie, Kevin Darko, Maggie Davis, Jared Gambrell, Kenzie Overshine, Urvi Patel, and Juan Rodriguez.
