Jesse Jones has AFPE Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Renewed

Jesse Jones, PharmD, a PhD student at the UTHSC College of Pharmacy, has had his American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship renewed for a second year. Dr. Jones received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Idaho State University in 2012 and is currently pursuing his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. His current research project is titled “Targeting Type IA Topoisomerases for Selective Anti-Streptococcal Drug Design” and involves evaluating the specific enzyme “topoisomerase I” as a novel target for the potential development of narrow-spectrum antibacterial agents.

The primary goal of the AFPE Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship program is to positively impact patient and public health by supporting high performing students who possess the skill and aptitude to become outstanding scientists and leaders in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and the government/nonprofit sectors.
