As part of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) Meeting, University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy student pharmacists attended the annual student-organized Tennessee Society of Student Pharmacists (TSSP) Legislative Health Fair on February 29th alongside students from the other colleges and schools of pharmacy across the state. The health fair was held at the Tennessee State Capitol and included blood pressure screenings, discussing the importance of pharmacist integration within the healthcare system, and advocating to state legislators for bills that affect pharmacists. Students held their legislative fair only a few days after a bill was passed to allow pharmacists to dispense naloxone without a prescription. A few days after their health fair, a bill was passed that allow pharmacists to prescribe birth control. Student pharmacists were also invited to the House and the Senate to observe a congressional session.
