The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) local Clinical Skills Competition featured 23 teams (8 in Knoxville, 3 in Nashville, and 12 in Memphis). The competition consisted of two rounds, one written and one oral. Teams were presented with a complex patient case and had two hours to complete a written assessment of the patient. The top 10 teams from round one moved on to the oral round. Katie Ziegler and Anna Woods (pictured), both fourth year student pharmacists, will represent UTCOP in the national competition at the ASHP Mid-Year Clinical Meeting in December in New Orleans, LA. When asked about the competition, Ziegler said, “The case this year was both fun and challenging. Anna and I are excited to represent UT in New Orleans in December.” The second and third place teams were Lauren Bode and Trey Smith (both fourth year student pharmacists) and Amanda Cavness and Alicia Sanchez (both fourth year student pharmacists), respectively.
