White-Means Quoted in Commercial Appeal

White-Means IIShelley White-Means, PhD, MA, executive director for the Consortium on Health Education, Economic Empowerment and Research (CHEER), was recently quoted in an issue of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis. Dr. White-Means is working with many, such as the Memphis Breast Cancer Consortium and Sister Pact education program, to raise awareness of breast health in African-American women of Memphis. Women of African-American decent are more than twice as likely to die of breast cancer as their Caucasian counterparts. They hope to make mammograms and education of breast cancer treatments more available to African-American women as a start to ending this disparity.
