UT President DiPietro and Staff Receive Immunizations from Students and Faculty

On September 24, 2015, President DiPietro and several members of his staff received influenza immunizations administered by third year student pharmacists, Amy Verraco, Courtney Manlove and Molly Hunt, and Dr. Leslie Hamilton, associate professor of Clinical Pharmacy and UTHSC COP APhA-ASP advisor. Staff immunized included President DiPietro’s Executive Assistant Keith Carver and Administrative Assistant Jane Pullum, along with Assistant Vice President and Director of Communications Gina Stafford. Last year, the UTHSC College of Pharmacy’s American Pharmacists Association-American Student Pharmacist Operation Immunization administered 6,812 immunizations and reached another 411 patients through education. Operation Immunization is a public health initiative that serves to educate and raise awareness about all available vaccines, and to increase the number of vaccinations administered. In addition to being flu season, next month is American Pharmacists Month. UTHSC College of Pharmacy and APhA encourage everyone to “Know Your Pharmacist, Know your Medicine!”
