The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) Brain and Spine Institute competed in the Downtown Dragon, Drum, and Paddle race on August 29, 2015 in Knoxville. The team consisted of members from Neuro Critical Care/Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NCC/TSICU), 7 South, Emergency Department (ED), University Anesthesiology, University Neurology, UTHSC Graduate School of Medicine, Neurosurgical Associates and Pharmacy, all of whom care for stroke patients. “The Strokes” team won both their heats and placed 5th of 13 in the race with times of 1:16.103 and 1:18.173, narrowly missing out on competing in the finals. In addition, the team dressed as minions and won the best T-shirt/Costume Award. The Downtown Dragon, Drum, and Paddle Race supports the Tennessee Clean Water Network.
