The VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System was honored to host Dr. Max Ray (‘69) on November 3-4, 2014 as part of ASHP’s Visiting Leadership Program. The Visiting Leaders Program is designed specifically for interactive leadership skill building on a personal basis with a prominent health-system leader. Dr. Max Ray, a distinguished health-system pharmacy leader and a retired Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Health Outcomes and Policy Research Division at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, visited the residents’ institution for a two-day period to explore leadership interests and lead group discussions. He also spent 15 minutes individually with each resident outlining leadership goals and aspirations for them. The VA was well-represented by 8 PGY-1 and 4 PGY-2 residents who participated in the program. Four of these residents were University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy graduates including PGY1s Suzy Ponnapula and Will Forkum and PGY2s Autumn Bagwell and Jonathan Lister.
