Shannon Finks, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP, associate professor of Clinical Pharmacy, and Shawn McFarland, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP, BCACP, associate professor of Clinical Pharmacy, both received outgoing officer awards from the Cardiology and Ambulatory Care PRNs, respectively, in recognition of their service during their time as Chairs for 2013-2014. During their terms as Chair, they oversaw all PRN committees, created and monitored changes for these committees, acted as a representative to ACCP for the PRN, and led the PRN in its programming and business at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Finks and McFarland were honored at the Annual ACCP Business meeting by their peers for their leadership over the past 2 years as Chair-Elect (2012-2013) and Chair (2013-2014).
Under Finks’ leadership, the Cardiology PRN was successful in establishing an online Cardiology PRN Journal Club, which features PGY-2 presenters highlighting current evidence in the cardiology literature.
Under McFarland’s leadership, the Ambulatory PRN grew to its largest membership since inception, three scholarships were funded for members to participate in the Focused Investigator Training initiative, and student and resident membership increased exponentially .
