Dr. Tao Lowe, associate professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Biomedical Engineering, was elected to serve as the Chair-Elect of the Nanotechnology Focus Group (NanotechFG) of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Nanotechnology is a broad field of science, and its application to pharmaceutical science and technology is equally broad. Nanotechnology’s main concept is the control of matter on a scale smaller than 1 micrometer, focusing on the design of drug and gene delivery devices and diagnostics on this same scale of length. The overall goal of the Nanotechnology focus groups is to introduce the concepts, approaches, issues, controversies, and current research progress of nanotechnology to the AAPS membership.
