SNPhA Regions I and II Meeting News

|

SNPhA-logoThe Student National Pharmacists Association (SNPhA) Regions I and II conference, hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, offered tremendous opportunities for 21 UTCOP members. The four-day meeting, from February 28 to March 2, invited student pharmacists from Massachusetts to Florida to Tennessee to participate in activities such as the Clinical Skills Competition, formulating regional resolutions and networking.

Our chapter brought forth one resolution to the region and amended two other resolutions that will be considered in the SNPhA National Conference. Two teams represented our university in the Clinical Skills Competition. Sessions attended by our student pharmacists included “Building Your Brand Through Effective Networking” and “Advocacy Essentials: An Application to Pharmacist Provider Status.” Furthermore, SNPhA provided a workshop on giving and receiving feedback as well as an “Interprofessional Care Forum.”

Finally, our college not only brought the second largest cohort to the meeting but also won the “Instagram-a-thon” competition for Region II. Overall, James E. Smith, Jr., current president of our chapter, writes that “we were able to do a lot of networking between pharmacy schools and truly learned many professional tactics.”
